Byron E. "Butch" George, 88, of Shippenville, passed to life everlasting at 10:59 p.m. Sunday,  March 18, 2012, at his residence.
 Born May 11, 1923, in Frogtown, Clarion County, he was the only child of the late William Russell  and Stella May Herman George.
 Bryon served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
 He was a mail carrier, ran a small grocery store and served as constable, all in Strattanville. He  retired after working as a truck driver.
 Byron enjoyed playing his guitar, recording songs, riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR, doing  crossword puzzles and his dog Blondie.
 He belonged to the American Legion Post 66 in Clarion.
 Byron is survived by his children: Robert Eugene George and wife Mary of Florida, James Allen  George and wife Barbara of Strattanville, William Joseph George and wife Carrie of Newton Falls,  Ohio, Brian Gene George of Florida, Roy Daniel George of Oil City, Ellison Andrew George and wife  Penny of Franklin, Christopher Eugene McCool and Cindy Myers of Franklin, Elizabeth Jean George of  Oil City, Tiby Mary George and Willis Bish of Fairmount City; and a stepson, Eric Michael McCool of  Rocky Grove.
 Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bryon Eugene George Jr.; and two  grandsons, Deshawn Lamont Harris and Quest Devonte Morgan.
 The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the David C. McEntire  Funeral Home, Inc. 504 East Penn St., Knox.
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nevin Memorial Church in Frogtown with the  Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment with full military services accorded by American Legion Post 66 of Clarion will follow in  the church cemetery

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
 Here its been over 9 years and not everynight but all to often I still have  nightmares of that night that I lost 2 of my comrades in Falluja, Iraq. I pray that their families  are knowing that they paid their price for each and every soul that lives and stands on American  Soil!!!
